Andjelka Trifunovic Popovic, 31 years old, from Cukojevac near Kraljevo had a gynecologist who monitored her pregnancy. Andja went to medical examinations regularly and was assured by the gynecologist that her third pregnancy was going well. Andja looked forward to her third child and she fought the falling birth rate. She was supposed to give birth on September 25th 2008. She got a headache and she was kept in the health center “Studenica” in Kraljevo because of her high blood pressure. After two days, on September 27th 2008, due to her high risk pregnancy with blood pressure that was too high, Andja was transferred to the medical center “Kragujevac”. The caesarean section was performed at noon and the baby was alive and healthy. Andja died sometime before midnight. Regardless of the fact that three children were left without a mother and regardless of the fact that Andja had regular examinations, none of the officials made a statement. None of them publicly said who was responsible for the death of this young woman. None of them explained how it is possible that the doctors kept a woman with extremely high blood pressure in the hospital in Kraljevo for two days and then sent her to Kragujevac without medical escort, which is against the law. Is it possible that no one is responsible for the death of this young and healthy woman, who lost her life because of medical negligence? Andja’s three children deserve the answers to these questions. Milan Popović
