MAMA-KANGAROO 099
My dear fellow mom, I gave birth in April 2007, in the maternity hospital in Novi Sad. I had an emergency C-section with an epidural anesthesia. I was very satisfied with the intensive care, the kindness of nurses in the IC ward. They addressed me by my name and had a lot of patience for a new mum with lots of questions. But then I arrived to “The Ward”. When I asked when my son would be brought to me, the answer was “Hold on, you’re not the only one here with a child.” I didn’t know how to breastfeed, so I asked a midwife to show me. She took my breast in her hand, smiled cynically and said “This is no good, there’s no milk, you’re child is going to be hungry.” Ten hours later I had a horrible inflammation due to blocked ducts, since the colostrum could not get through. I had plenty of milk which my son could not suck because of my excruciating pain. And there it is, my small contribution to this great site.
