MAMA-KANGAROO 283
My sister gave birth to her son in December, 2007 in Majdanpek. Compared to my own experience, her delivery was perfect. She had a natural child birth. She was admitted at 12PM, and at 3PM she called all of us from her cell phone to announce the birth of her son. Majdanpek' Birth Clinic now works under much improved circumstances with highly skilled staff. But, there are still no funds for the renovation of the maternity ward. The heating system doesn't work in the winter, the bathrooms are in ruins, and the rooms are furnished with iron beds covered with torn bed spreads and pillow cases....but, all of this becomes less important when one meets very kind and skillful staff. Having confidence in the doctors skills and their kind attitude toward the expectant mothers means more than anything else! I'd like to express my gratitude and admiration to the exceptionally wonderful gynecologist, Dr. Arsic and Mr. Zoran( Sorry, I forgot his last name), as well as to the rest of the staff of the Majdanpek's Hospital. Those people were kind, well mannered and civilized. Not even once have they yelled at the women in labor. My sister's doctor joked with her in the operating room while the nurse kept on encouraging her holding her hand and drying her sweaty forehead with a wet napkin. My brother in law wasn't present since he was on the business trip, otherwise he would have been in the delivery room with my sister. All of those people were great and I haven't got a single objection.
