When did you give birth to your baby? 2002 (first child) Where? KBC Kragujevac Did anything unpleasant happen at the hospital? They left a piece of gauze in the uterus. On day 38, while I was inspecting the wound, I saw it and took it out. After labor it took days till I recovered, I felt like a living corpse. I couldn’t sit straight for a long time. I couldn’t hold my baby in my arms. I couldn’t stand. I was dizzy. I wonder how I was even able to survive it. And after all that my immune system weakened considerably. The shower head in the bathroom didn’t work. The bed had no brakes. There was even no heating, and I gave birth in March 2002. They never asked me anything at the maternity ward. They took the baby somewhere from time to time, but they never explained what they examined and how he was doing. They even wrote in the release forms that I was a house wife. They brought me the baby four or five hours after labor. I immediately started breastfeeding. There were some problems, since the baby was lazy and would only sleep, so the midwives helped me nurse him.
Second labor December, 2005 They left me alone in the delivery room, so when the labor started four hours later, I was alone. I had to yell to get someone to come. To that, a doctor remarked, “another wimp.” I have to say, four years after the first labor, the conditions were somewhat better – most importantly the hygiene, bathroom facilities, and the fact that a pediatrician came around every day to tell us about the baby’s health and the analyses done that day. I should mention another thing. After labor, they allegedly give you a shot of anesthetic before they stitch you up. For me, that is a more painful and unpleasant experience than the labor itself. Can it be that in whole of Serbia there is no anesthetic that would really work? I think it is terrible that, after all the labor pains, the woman has to suffer pain during suture.
